  • Road Running: long-distance running, mainly conducted on courses of paved or tarmac roads, with races typically ranging from 5 kilometres to 42.2 kilometres in the marathon.
  • Cross country running: competitions take place on open-air courses over surfaces such as grass, woodland trails, and earth.
